INSTALLING A SLIDING GATE
Sliding gates are popular due to their space-saving design and smooth operation. Here’s a breakdown of the installation process:
Measure the Space: Start by measuring the area where you plan to install the gate. This helps determine the appropriate size and type of gate required.
Prepare the Foundation: Inspect the footing for the gate’s track to make sure that it is level and sturdy. This is crucial for the gate’s smooth operation.
Position the Track: Lay down the track where the gate will slide. At this stage, don’t secure it yet; just check that all the components fit the space properly.
Fit the Wheels and Gate: Attach wheels to the bottom of the gate and place them onto the track. Inspect that everything aligns correctly and that there is sufficient clearance for the guide rollers above the gate. Adjust as needed.
Secure the Track and Gate: Once aligned, secure the track to the foundation with fasteners. Then, position the gate onto the fixed track.
Install Safety Features: Install a hard stop to prevent the gate from sliding too far open and a keeper to hold the gate securely when closed.
Motor Installation: Place the motor near the driveway. The type of motor (main voltage, low voltage, or solar-powered) depends on your power source and preferences.
